Who is The FlipFlop Fitness Guy?
Answer: I’m Tom Davis, a seasoned fitness and wellness coach, blending over 20 years of experience in powerlifting, strongman, nutrition, and sleep/stress optimization with a background in engineering and corporate work. Since 2020, I have devoted myself to full-time coaching, committed to empowering clients holistically. My passion is helping those to achieve their full potential with a reasonable approach tailored to their lifestyle.
What is your coaching philosophy?
Answer: I believe in a holistic, science-backed approach. I emphasize small, sustainable changes over quick fixes and integrate nutrition, sleep, stress management, supplementation, and movement into personalized coaching. Clients benefit from my dedicated support and attention to detail that is curated just for them.
What makes your approach unique?
Answer: I have a holistic philosophy that goes beyond typical workouts and meal plans. I examine each client's unique needs, integrating sleep, stress management, bloodwork insights, food quality, and strategic supplementation.
How did he earn the nickname “FlipFlop Fitness Guy”?
Answer: During my powerlifting days, I realized I performed better lifting barefoot. Finding shoes unnecessary, I began wearing flip-flops—even to the gym. After relocating to Florida, I leaned into the “Florida Man” vibe and embraced the flip-flops permanently—hence the nickname.

What do you recommend for a beginner starting to workout?
Answer: I definitely recommend starting with in-person sessions! Learning how to properly execute movements and how to use various machines at the gym will lead to better injury prevention and improved confidence. My goal is to teach you everything I know so that you can do it on your own. I NEVER want to gatekeep information or make you feel reliant on me. We’ll work together to develop a personalize strategy to get you moving quickly and safely to your goal. Learn more!
Do you work with injuries?
Answer: Yes, but it depends. I’ve had many injuries myself over my career and with those has come lots of 1:1 education with chiropractors, PT’s, and orthos and I’m confident with my abilities to rehab CERTAIN injuries through proper training, nutrition, and supplementation. But there are some injuries that are better left to the professionals to deal with!
Who is an ideal client?
Answer: My services are perfect for driven professionals who want to transform their bodies, boost energy, and sharpen mental clarity—without sacrificing lifestyle and flexibility. If you’ve got the job, got the house, got the car, and you want the body to match, I’m your trainer!
